Day by Day

Trip Itinerary

We’ll collect you early in the morning and head east from Cape Town through beautiful countryside toward Gansbaai, a laid-back seaside town known for its rich marine life. Settle in and enjoy the journey while we take care of the driving. Your exact departure time will depend on the day’s confirmed launch time and sea conditions.

Arriving in Gansbaai, you’ll have time for a light breakfast and refreshments before meeting the marine crew. They’ll talk you through the day, explain what to expect out on the water and take you through the safety briefing. Wetsuits and the necessary cage-diving equipment are provided, so you’ll have everything you need before heading out to sea.

Then it’s time to head out to sea. The boat ride to the day’s dive site takes around 15–20 minutes. Once anchored and the cage is ready, you’ll have the opportunity to enter the water and see the sharks from the cage. Prefer to stay dry? You can stay on the boat and enjoy the shark and marine viewing. No scuba certification is required.

Back on shore, enjoy the included post-trip meal and refreshments while you relax after your time on the water. A professional videographer captures highlights from the experience, with footage available to purchase afterwards on a custom-made shark USB. It’s a fun keepsake from the day.

After your time in Gansbaai, settle back for the return journey to Cape Town while we take care of the driving, giving you time to reflect on your shark encounter and the beautiful coastline you’ve just explored. Your return time will depend on the day’s launch schedule, sea conditions and traffic.

No. Scuba or diving certification is not required. Guests receive a full safety briefing before launch and the necessary cage-diving equipment is supplied.

No. Sharks are wild animals, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. If no sharks are sighted during the trip, the shark activity provider’s current policy is to provide a return voucher for another shark trip, subject to availability. The voucher applies to the shark activity only and does not include another Parker Cottage Tours return transfer between Cape Town and Gansbaai.

The marine activity is weather and sea-condition dependent, and launch times or schedules may need to change.

Yes. Guests who prefer to remain out of the water can enjoy the shark and marine viewing experience from the boat.

  • Within 7 days, tours are non-refundable, but we’ll do our best to reschedule where possible.
  • If weather or operational conditions force us to cancel or change part of your tour, we’ll adjust the itinerary where possible or refund the affected portion.
